Welcome back to the Calgary Group Chat! October has been flying by, and there is plenty happening around the city to catch you up on.
From a new dog mayor taking over the Culture and Entertainment District to Halloween events to check out before spooky season ends, there’s no shortage of things to talk about this week.
So before October wraps up, here’s everything you need to catch up on around the city.
Establishment Brewing Company is celebrating a big win after taking home the Alberta Brewery of the Year Award at the Alberta Beery Awards, making it its fourth time earning the title in six years. So if you’ve yet to try some of their brews for yourself, let this be your sign.
Calgary’s Culture and Entertainment District has a new Dog Mayor! Dogtor Conrad Sparkles, a nine-year-old miniature schnauzer, won the election after weeks of campaigning and thousands of votes. He will represent the district at events over the next year and will also serve as the official dog of the Grey Cup Festival this November.
Congratulations, Conrad! We can’t wait to see what you get up to in office.
Calling all wine lovers! Grape Escape is back at the BMO Centre on Nov. 20 and 21, bringing more than 125 vendors together for a massive tasting event featuring wine, beer, spirits, seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
If you’re thinking of checking it out, you’ll want to grab your tickets fast, as Saturday’s session is already completely sold out.
Halloween is just days away, and if you’ve yet to experience some of Calgary’s spooky events, there’s still time to squeeze in a few haunted adventures before the season comes to an end.
Here are a few events to check out before Oct. 31:
A live production of Beauty and the Beast will be playing at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from Nov. 10 to 15, and tickets are on sale now. The show will feature all the classic songs along with elaborate costumes and sets inspired by the Disney story.
And that’s a wrap on this week’s Calgary Group Chat. We’ll see you next week with more updates on what’s happening around the city.
Until then, enjoy the rest of your week, Calgary!
