Let them eat scones! If you want to elevate your movie date this weekend, Fox Theatre in Toronto is hosting a “high tea cinema” screening of Marie Antoinette, complete with tea and sweet bites.

“This sensational slice of cinema is sure to keep you intrigued as you enjoy a cup of tea from Pippins and a scone from Gerrard St. Bakery,” the description says.

Feast your eyes on the Academy Award-winning costume design and eye-popping art direction of this iconic 2006 film starring Kirsten Dunst and directed by Sofia Coppola.

“Coppola’s period drama is a stunning, candy-coloured re-evaluation of the iconic queen, from the perspective of a teenage girl coming of age while also coming into power in the court of Versailles in the 1700s.”

Fox Theatre always has unique screenings and events for movie-lovers, including the upcoming Toronto Arthouse Film Festival in October and classic comedies including Some Like It Hot starring Marilyn Monroe.

As much as we hate to admit it, it’s getting a bit cooler outside these days. But, with a hot cup of tea and a cozy movie to watch, we promise you’ll hardly miss the summer weather.
