Ready for some serious entertainment? For the first time ever, the Red Bull Flugtag is coming to Toronto and thrill-seeking locals will compete in teams to fly their own craft.

If you’ve never heard of the Red Bull Flugtag before, let us fill you in.

Participants are tasked with building their own handcrafted human-powered flying machines and launching them off a 9-metre flight deck in front of thousands of spectators.

The competitors are scored by a team of judges on the creativity of their craft, their performance, and the distance of their flight.

Red Bull is providing the competing teams with educational content and coaching sessions by community leaders known for their creativity and craftsmanship, who will help them build the best flying machine possible.

Then, a lineup of local celebs will announce the winners — stay tuned to find out which celebs will be making an appearance.

The deadline for applications to participate in the competition has passed, but you can witness it all unfold from the sidelines.

This isn’t the first time that the Red Bull Flugtag has come to Canada. It was previously held in Vancouver way back in 2006, and in Ottawa in 2008 and 2013.

Toronto will get to experience it for the very first time at Ontario Place in September and thousands of people are invited to come down and watch the action.
