Take a bite out of this! Toronto’s restaurant scene never disappoints, and it’s safe to say that the city has some of the best dining destinations around – even across the country. OpenTable has released its annual list of top 100 restaurants in Canada for 2023 and 19 Toronto restaurants managed to make the cut.
According to OpenTable, over 1.1 million diner reviews were analyzed and an updated methodology was used that included diner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance, and five-star reviews. This year, diverse cuisines were a top choice for diners from January 2023 to September 2023. Chinese, Greek and Middle Eastern eats saw the biggest increase when it came to restaurant visits.
That’s not the mention the popularity surrounding culinary experiences and special occasion dining, which saw a jump year over year.
“Our 2023 data not only shows that diners are talking about culinary experiences within restaurant reviews, but their appetite has grown for them – with OpenTable Experiences seeing a 35% increase in seated diners from January to September, compared to last year,” said Steve Sintra, Senior Vice President of OpenTable Americas.
“Our data also shows that diners are eager to celebrate special occasions at restaurants, as evidenced by Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day this year. We anticipate that the same will be true for this holiday season, with diners showing up in full force.”
As for the Top 100 Restaurants in Canada for 2023, Ontario once again, came in strong with 41 restaurants mentioned. From two Michelin-star restaurants to must-try eateries, 19 out of the 41 Ontario restaurants listed are located in Toronto.
