This otherworldly estate for sale on Salt Spring Island comes with 2 gorgeous homes

We stumbled across a real doozy of a property for sale this week, folks. Tucked away on Salt Spring Island, this amazing estate features not one but two stunning homes, both created by critically acclaimed designers. We were honestly confused when looking at the listing. Seriously, this is one of those ‘see it to believe it’ places, so let’s check it out!

The 19-acre estate is sitting right at the edge of the Mt. Tuam Ecological Reserve, which is on the south side of the island. So right off the bat, you’ve got some incredible outdoor options, like walking trails, waterfalls and ponds, and tons of ocean lookouts. But, we’re just getting started here.

First up is the main residence, which was designed by Blue Sky Architecture. Known for their West Coast Contemporary designs, Blue Sky created what we’ll call a ‘sweeping’ home. What exactly does that mean? Well, we’re not sure, but we’re going to take a stab at it.

Gentle curves, tons of windows, and the use of light wood for floors and accents create a space that blends into the surroundings while standing out at the same time. Set above a nearby pond and overlooking the ocean, the 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom home is clearly meant for those who want to enjoy nature while getting as close to it as possible.

And of course, the home comes with its fair share of upscale touches. In addition to multiple patios and a gourmet kitchen, the home features a large workshop (currently being used as a yoga studio) and space for a home office. A family home, this place is not. But hey, we’ll take the tradeoff.

Maybe even more impressive though is the nearby studio space/guest house. A later addition to the estate, this is actually two connected spaces designed by Todd Saunders Architecture. If that name rings a bell, it might be because they’re the same people behind the Fogo Island Inn, which is maybe Canada’s most iconic modern resort.

This property is more dramatic than the main residence, setting the two spaces between a waterfall for extra effect. One side features a kitchenette and a bed, while the other is pretty clearly being used as a home office, although there’s also a bed in there as well. We have to admit, we’ve never seen a floor like that one, and we’re fans of it. Plus, rooftop patios and a hot tub act as the cherry on top.

Now, there’s no doubt that we’ve been desensitized to high prices over the years, but all things considered (2 modern properties, 19 acres of land, and amazing views) the $3,685,000 price tag doesn’t seem so bad to us. After all, that’s like a mid to upper-range home in most Vancouver neighbourhoods.

We’ve also got a strong feeling that the waterfall property could pull at least 6 figures a year via Airbnb, if you’re allowed to do that sort of thing. Ah, we’re going to stop there, before we try to ‘invest’ in sketchy crypto companies off Reddit.
