Sunny weekend ahead! Well, Edmonton, the short week is coming to and end with nothing but sunny skies and a high of around 24°C. It is certainly summer out there, and if you’re looking of ways to enjoy the city this weekend, look no further.

Edmonton Folk Music Festival 2024

Held at one of the city’s most scenic destinations, this event is highly anticipated and will feature major headliners Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, along with Ben Howard, KT Tunstall, Blue Rodeo, and many more.

Alberta Avenue Night Markets

Three night markets are taking place in the Alberta Avenue District August. Each market will have different vendors, entertainment and community partners. So bring the family, and enjoy some food outdoors! Wondering what to expect? This Friday, August 9, Serengeti BBQ, Savannah Serenade Twilight will take place at 8815 118 Ave. Then on August 16th, it’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Night at 8108 118 Ave.Finally on August 30th, The Wrap Up Hosted by AFRICARNIVAL taking place at 9210 118 Ave.

Twilight Picnic Experience

Ready to enjoy a picnic evening? Grab a blanket and get ready to enjoy a wine or beer and let everything slow down. This Twilight Picnic Experience includes admission to the garden for two people, live musical entertainment and gourmet picnic box for two. Be sure to reserve in advance!

Animethon

Animethon is a three-day Japanese Animation (anime) themed festival held annually in Edmonton. You can expect cosplay, fan panels, a dance showcase, among other events!

Cariwest 2024

While the main draw for Edmonton’s Caribbean festival is the parade, there’s a whole lot more to look forward to as well. There will be three days of music, energetic performances, and savory cuisine.

Alberta on the Plate

Every August during Alberta Local Food Week, Alberta on the Plate hosts a ten-day, province-wide dine around festival. And those ten days have arrived! During Alberta on the plate, participating restaurants in the city offer multi-course, fixed-price menus highlighting local producers, growers, distillers and brewers. Be sure to check out local spots over the weekend!

BINI

BINI is not just a girl group; they have redefined the landscape of P-Pop (Pinoy Pop). Check out BINI, described as to be “driving the next wave of Filipino music and culture to global prominence.”

Where: Edmonton EXPO Centre – 7515 118 Ave NW, Edmonton

PUNK IN DRUBLIC FESTIVAL

According to organizers, Headliners NOFX will be performing forty songs, including full albums and rarities at all shows during their last tour, plus they will never repeat a setlist to ensure that each show is unique! Also on the bill are Circle Jerks, Adolescents, The Flatliners, and Real McKenzies.

Augtoberfest Craft Beer Festival

Augtoberfest is the first ever craft beer festival to take place in Stony Plain, AB, and it is hosted and organized by West Parkland Gas Co-op. All proceeds from the festival are being donated to TriCALA. Spend an afternoon or evening sampling quality craft beers by breweries from across Alberta. And there will be food trucks!

Edmonton Elks vs. BC Lions

Check out “Country Day” as the Edmonton Elks kick-off against the BC Lions on August 11. There will be a tailgate area that opens three hours before kick-off in Lot B. You can expect face painting, bouncy castles, and more fun for families in the Commonwealth Community Fieldhouse starting 90-minutes before kick-off.
