Luckily, there’s no shortage of amazing things to do in and around Edmonton, whether you’re looking for concerts, festivals, arts & culture… the list goes on, you know the deal! Here are the best things to do around Edmonton this August.

Billy Idol

Legendary rocker Billy Idol kicked off his transcontinental Rebel Yell Canada 2024 arena tour this July, and it’s stopping in Edmonton! Produced by Live Nation Canada, they state that Idol’s show will “include a myriad of hits from across his career with a focus on the landmark Rebel Yell album, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.”

Edmonton Heritage Festival

The world’s largest three-day multiculturalism celebration takes place in Edmonton, and it is coming up in August. The Edmonton Heritage Festival showcases a diversity of cuisine, entertainment, interpretive materials, and crafts worldwide.

Grab the kiddos, pack the car, and head to the beach for an epic weekend festival at Slave Lake. There will be sandcastles, a beer garden, friendly competitions, and lots more to keep the fam busy! If you’ve got a competitive streak, you can show off your athletic chops and register for the paddleboard race, volleyball tournament, or relay race.

Edmonton Folk Music Festival 2024

Held at one of the city’s most scenic destinations, this event is highly anticipated and will feature major headliners Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, along with Ben Howard, KT Tunstall, Blue Rodeo, and many more.

Animethon

Animethon is a three-day Japanese Animation (anime) themed festival held annually in Edmonton. You can expect cosplay, fan panels, a dance showcase, among other events!

Cariwest 2024

While the main draw for Edmonton’s Caribbean festival is the parade, there’s a whole lot more to look forward to as well. There will be three days of music, energetic performances, and savory cuisine.

Alberta Avenue Night Markets

Three night markets are taking place in the Alberta Avenue District August. Each market will have different vendors, entertainment and community partners. So bring the family, and enjoy some food outdoors! Wondering what to expect? On August 9, Serengeti BBQ, Savannah Serenade Twilight at 8815 118 Ave. Then on August 16th, it’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Night at 8108 118 Ave.

Finally on August 30th, The Wrap Up Hosted by AFRICARNIVAL taking place at 9210 118 Ave.

BINI

PUNK IN DRUBLIC FESTIVAL

According to organizers, Headliners NOFX will be performing forty songs, including full albums and rarities at all shows during their last tour, plus they will never repeat a setlist to ensure that each show is unique! Also on the bill are Circle Jerks, Adolescents, The Flatliners, and Real McKenzies.

Karan Aujla

Hailing from Punjab, India, and now living in Vancouver, B.C., singer, rapper and songwriter Karan Aujla is on his “It Was All A Dream World Tour” which stops in Edmonton in August.

 ESO Outdoors

25th Edmonton Blues Festival

The Edmonton Blues Festival is turning 25 and the celebration will take place at the newly created Klondike Park at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands in mid August!

2024 Opera al Fresco

Edmonton Pride Festival

Swifties Under the Sky – Taylor Swift Dance Party Edmonton

Metallica

Hozier

Hozier is on his most extensive headlining run in North America – The Unreal Unearth Tour. And the Irish singer/songwriter wants to ensure fans buy tickets at face value. According to Live Nation, “for fans who purchase tickets for the Unreal Unearth Tour 2024 through Ticketmaster and can’t attend, they will have the option to resell their ticket to other fans at the original price paid using Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange.”

Cirque Italia: Water Circus

Symphony in the Square-Disney in Concert

On August 30 & 31, head to Churchill Square for a magical journey brought to life by the talents of four Broadway calibre singers and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra! Disney in Concert Once Upon a Time features high resolution Animated Feature Film sequences, and will include sounds from Encanto, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, The Lion King, and many more.
