It’s almost the weekend, and it looks like sunny skies ahead. As we approach the middle of August, it’s good to plan some outdoor days to enjoy the warm weather as much as we can! So check out a festival or block party this weekend, or look up to find the Perseid Meteor Shower! Let’s have a look at the best things to do in and around Seattle this weekend.

Movies at the Mural

The Mural Amphitheatre lawn transforms into an outdoor theatre with a 40-foot screen and the iconic Space Needle in view this summer. The series takes place on Fridays and feature popular movies that include classic and contemporary films that are appropriate for all-ages. This weekend, you can watch Dune (1984).

Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners play at home this weekend against the NY Mets. And on Friday, you can catch Family Favorites Fireworks Night, as well as the dance and sing along to your kids’ favorite songs at the postgame show.

Now in its 18th year, the South Lake Union Block Party is described as “the largest and longest running festival focused on celebrating and showcasing our neighborhood.”

THING Festival

The Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is bringing back the eclectic and intimate three-day, all-ages music festival that celebrates local to international musical acts with an emphasis on music discovery.

The lineup includes over 30 bands playing different stages, and features headliners St. Vincent, Black Pumas, and Toro Y Moi, with Spoon, Killer Mike, Stephen Sanchez, Ethel Cain, and Earl Sweatshirt.

Hello Kitty Cafe Truck

Love all things Hello Kitty and Sanrio universe? Get excited because the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is coming back to Washington not once, but twice this summer. The Hello Kitty Cafe vehicle will be returning in August, stopping in Tacoma for its first of two stops this month.

Beacon Arts Street Fair

This weekend, celebrate art, culture and community. Expect live music, art market, food, and more. And on August 10th, the Fair is celebrating National Happiness Happens Day.

Art Battle

Get ready for a night of epic creativity, Seattle. At Art Battle, you can watch talented artists compete in three rounds of 20-minute masterpieces, all created with open materials. The pieces will be auctioned off and the crowd will crown the ultimate champion of the night.

The Capitol Hill Garage Sale – Seattle

Taking place on Sunday, August 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cal Anderson Park, this annual event is described as “Seattle’s longest running community-wide garage sale.”

According to organizers, the Capitol Hill Garage Sale regularly features “over 100 people selling their treasures in Cal Anderson Park in addition to many independent garage sales at homes across Capitol Hill.”

ScHoolboy Q
