This Seattle sushi spot is among the top 10 in the entire country

Sushi is perhaps one of the things that Seattle does best. And a recent list of the top 100 sushi spots in the U.S. proves that. According to Yelp’s Top 100 Sushi Spots 2024, one Seattle restaurant is in the top five.

Not only that, five other Washington sushi restaurants have also made the list.

“There’s no denying that Americans love sushi. The Japanese dish—made with perfectly seasoned, vinegared rice and fresh raw (or cooked) seafood, and sometimes vegetables or meat—is one of the top-growing US dining categories,” Yelp states, according to its 2023 State of the Restaurant Industry Report.

For its 2024 list, it says these spots are so good due to “the freshest ingredients, of course, as well as highly trained sushi chefs who know how to craft the perfect bite.”

In the top spot is Kauai Sushi Station, Lihue, Kauai (Hawaii), followed by Imari Sashimi and Sushi, Upland (California), and in third is Hamachi Sushi Express, La Habra (California).

Coming in at 4th place out of 100, Taneda Sushi in Kaiseki, Seattle, is one of the highest rated spots in the U.S.

“It’s always a triumph snagging a reservation for one of the 2 nightly seatings at this elegant 9-seat sushi bar in Seattle,” states Yelp.

“The kaiseki-style menu (a chef’s choice tasting with many ingredients) features the ‘most delicious, melting-in-your-mouth’ fish as well as meat and vegetable dishes.” it states, adding that each course changes daily as well.

89. Maxi Teriyaki and Sushi Restaurant, Cosmopolis, Washington
94. Star Sushi & Bar, Seattle, Washington
98. Kai Sushi, Everett, Washington

“This is an all-time list of the Top 100 Sushi spots in the US,” states Yelp. As for how they came up with it, they say they “identified businesses in the Sushi category and then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews. All businesses were marked open on Yelp as of April 4, 2024. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of April 4, 2024.”
