A breathtaking exhibit featuring art from the Sistine Chapel opens in Calgary next month

From Beyond Van Gogh to the upcoming Monet experience, immersive gallery lovers are getting a masterclass in fine art and history. This March, gaze upwards and inwards during Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition, which celebrates one of the most famous Renaissance painters of all time.

From Melbourne and Frankfurt to Vancouver and Montreal, this incredible event has already brought the art of Michelangelo closer to audiences all over the world, and this spring, it’s Calgary’s turn.

Take a step into the artist’s colourful world of angels, demons and gods – each piece more incredible and elaborate than the next.

Accompanied by informative signage and audio guides, guests will feel as though they’re walking through the actual Sistine Chapel on an in-depth tour in Vatican City.

“With special expertise and care, the ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel have been reproduced in a truly unique way using licensed high definition photos,” they explain on their website.

“Brought to life using a special printing technique that emulates the look and feel of the original paintings, visitors are given a chance to engage with the artwork in ways that were never before possible: seeing every detail, every brushstroke, and every colour of the artist’s 34 frescoes.”
