This Ontario park has new wooden pods that are camping goals

There’s a new way to camp this year at Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park and it’s an upgrade from your old-school tent methods. The Ontario Park has introduced Camping pods and they’re available year round.

According to Ontario Parks, these pods are made in Ontario and are typically made out of wood, shaped like tents, lodges, or caravans. But this new style of roofed accommodations at Quetico “reflect a caravan or den-like appearance.”

What to expect during your camping stay

When you book your stay, inside you will find a queen over queen bunk bed, table, bench, electric power, electric baseboard heat, a rear window, and a lockable glass front door with a curtain.

There’s a covered wooden porch where you can set your camp chairs as you take in the beauty of mother nature. There’s a barbecue, picnic table, and campfire pit to enjoy as well.

Though it may seem like everything you need is inside the pod, you should definitely bring your regular camping gear, along with food, drinking water (in off season), a camp stove, utensils, dishes, pots and pans, blankets, linens, and pillows, according to Ontario Parks.

“Although the camping pods do not have running water or washroom facilities, an outhouse toilet is conveniently located nearby and shower facilities at comfort stations are available throughout summer months.”

Parking for one car is included in the reservation price.

The camping pod sleeps up to four people and is now available to reserve year-round. It’s important to note that there is a two-night minimum stay and a three-night minimum stay on long weekends.

What to do at Quetico Provincial Park

With 2,000 lakes and 460,000 hectares of remote wilderness, this park is said to be a “world-famous” destination for backcountry canoeing.

Not only is it ideal for camping, canoeing, and hiking, but also for star-gazing. Quetico is a recognized International Dark Sky Park.

It received the designation from the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) for its incredible views of the night sky, making it an ideal place to witness meteor showers and moon phases.
