Travel back in time to the late 1890s at Prequel & Co. Apothecary, Toronto’s newest immersive cocktail bar experience.

The now-open experiential cocktail bar transports guests to the Art Nouveau era of Paris from 1890 to 1910 with its apothecary-inspired space at 1036 Queen Street W.

According to the bar, before infusions and spirits, “ingredients, tinctures, and elixirs were prepared ‘a la minute’ in the apothecaries of the late 1800’s.”

Prequel & Co. Apothecary pays homage to the “Methode Classique”, a term coined by Frankie Solarik, owner behind this new venture and Toronto’s beloved BarChef.

Per the site, this method defines the approach of the cocktail program – “the philosophy of extracting the essential oils of beautiful natural ingredients a la minute to accentuate vibrancy, definition, and structure.”

You can expect every cocktail on the program to utilize this approach in one way or another.

We’re talking fresh citrus squeezed to order, cocktails created in mortars, measurements of spices, botanicals, and temperatures, and the use of Frankie Solarik’s original recipes of bitters and infusions.

Solarik alongside Beverage Director Gianluca Passuello are the visionaries behind the cocktail program.

Its almost neverending beverage list compliments its hors d’oeurves menu which features a Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Rolls,  Steak Tartare, Seared Foie Gras, and more.

Prequel & Co. Apothecary is now open for reservations.
