Inside Mott 32: The Globally acclaimed Chinese restaurant opening in Toronto
After years of waiting in anticipation, Mott 32 will welcome the city to its newest Canadian location right in the heart of Toronto this week. It’s considered the best luxury Chinese restaurant brand in the world and with reason. To break it down, Mott 32 has won several prestigious awards due to its renowned approach to traditional Chinese cuisine and its dining experience.
Though Mott 32 will officially open its doors on July 25th, they are currently hosting a Soft Opening for guests that RSVP, until July 24th.
Nonetheless, Curiocity got the chance to head inside Mott 32 before its official grand opening and here’s what you can expect.

Interior
According to the restaurant, its “opulent interiors” reflect what they call “a harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary elegance.”
This creates an inviting ambience for diners to enjoy. And it is safe to say Mott 32 managed to emulate that feeling as soon as you step inside.
Guests are embraced by a rich palette of dark colours – think deep wine reds, lush greens, and earthy browns. This colour scheme creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere.
There are a few wooden touches, prominently featured in the elegant seating arrangements, adding a rustic charm that enhances the overall sense of comfort.
Despite the richness of its colours, the restaurant achieves a balance with an airy and open feel.
Its large windows and sheer curtains permit ample natural lighting, casting a glow that highlights the rich tones and wooden furnishings, further enhancing the cozy atmosphere.
In another section of the dining space, hanging plants add a touch of natural beauty from above, creating a sense of tranquillity.
You’ll also find larger, more traditional round tables for larger groups, perfect for sharing quantities of food.
The bar, which you’ll find on the first floor, is adorned with lush greenery, becomes a focal point that exudes a vibrant, elegant yet relaxing vibe.
With top tier liquor choices and high quality cocktails, we wouldn’t blame you if you only came by for drinks and a few bites.
Every detail has been meticulously curated to ensure that guests feel almost at home while enjoying their meal.
Drinks
Complementing the inviting atmosphere, the menu features an exquisite selection of cocktails that perfectly pair with the culinary offerings.
Pictured here are the Hong Kong Iced Tea, Hanami, and Forbidden Rose.
The drink on the left, the Hong King Iced Tea, features a vibrant mix of Espolon Reposado Tequila, Lillet Blanc, Cassis, and Jasmine Tea, creating a refreshing and aromatic cocktail that delights the senses.
The cocktail in the middle is a sophisticated blend of Crown Royal Rye, Aviation Gin, Umeshu, Yuzu, and Shiso, topped with refreshing Ginger Beer and adorned with a decorative Chrysanthemum, offering a delicate balance of flavors and an elegant presentation.
And the last on the right is the Forbidden Rose. It’s name alone is tempting! It is composed of El Gobernador Vanilla infused Pisco, Passionfruit, Lychee, Chili, tincture, lemon, and topped with egg white.
Food offerings
Ready to eat? Of course you are.
Mott 32 will of course serve its signature dishes such as dim sum to innovative reinterpretations of classic dishes.
According to the brand, its menu “showcases the breadth and depth of Chinese culinary traditions, curated with precision and flair.”
The Dim Sum menu features an array of elevated, fusion options such as t he Wild Mushrooms, Water Chestnut Dumplings and the Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings.
Though you can fill yourself up simply on the dim sum menu, you must try the main courses such as the Apple wood roasted Pecking Duck.

Another delicious option is the Beef Sous Vide. Its presentation alone is tantalizing.

This marks the 9th international venue for the group, with a 10th opening in Scottsdale, Arizona, and its second Canadian location following its 2017 opening in Vancouver.
