NOX: Contemporary Italian restaurant is officially opening in Coal Harbour this June

Vancouver seems to be on the receiving end of a ton of great new restaurants, bars, and gelato spots lately! One of the most highly-anticipated openings is NOX Restaurant – the newest venture of the award-winning team behind el Santo in New West.

Named after the ancient Roman goddess of the night, NOX will officially open its doors in the picturesque Coal Harbour community on Thursday, June 9th.

The food:

Now, let’s dive right into the menu. NOX will offer a variety of locally-sourced plates inspired by the ‘micro-seasons’ of the West Coast. Think elevated Italian classics – Braised Pork and Pear Gnocchi, Spring Carbonara Cavatelli, and Red Endive Risotto – for starters.

Combine that with the Italian philosophy of using what’s fresh and local, and you’ve got a recipe for success. No pun intended.

In addition to some incredible mains, Chef Fabbro and his team have created equally mouthwatering appetizer options, ranging from mixed greens to Cicchetti. AKA- small, flavourful snacks on toasted bread (vegetarian and gluten-free options available).

The space:

The minimalist space includes a bar, lounge area, and a back room for private events.

Managing Director Alejandro Diaz said in a press release that his vision is one of “elegant simplicity and minimalism, devoid of pretense and stuffiness, where the enjoyment of the meal takes center stage.”

We can certainly get on board with that!

The wine:

No meal (especially Italian) is complete without a glass of wine to pair it with. Thankfully, General Manager and Wine Director Lucia Nahacka has tailored the wine menu to showcase boutique wineries with sustainable practices in both Italy and BC. Every glass is intentional, carefully selected, and made with quality ingredients.

NOX will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 4 to 10 pm, with happy hour taking place between 4 and 5:30 pm. Dine-in hours will be expanded to seven days per week in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can reserve your spot on their website and stalk their Instagram page for updates.

We’ll see you there, Vancouver!
