There’s a campaign to make a 90-minute stat holiday in Canada during the World Cup

Canada’s men’s soccer team takes the world stage this Wednesday and NorthStar Bets wants all Canadians to have a stat holiday to watch the game.

Calling all bosses, Canada plays its first World Cup game in almost 40 years this November 23 and for many, it’s right in the middle of our work day. The betting site is “urging” Canadian employers to give its employees time off during the day to watch the match with the first-ever “90-minute stat holiday.”

“Canadian soccer fans have waited 36 years for this moment, and we want to ensure every Canadian has the opportunity to cheer on the Canadian squad,” said Michael Moskowitz, CEO and a founding partner of NorthStar Gaming.

NorthStar Gaming will also team up with the hosts of soccer podcast Footy Prime, alongside former Canadian men’s national soccer team players Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan, podcast co-hosts James Sharman, Brendan Dunlop, Dan Wong, and Jeff Cole, to rally Canadians behind the stat holiday.
