Toronto’s stunning immersive art walk is coming back for the holidays this week

Toronto’s award-winning urban art walk is returning to the west end. Window Wonderland will take over the Junction starting this Friday, November 25th for the third year in a row.

This magical outdoor gallery is free to visit and features 20 unique augmented reality (AR) installations, showcasing the work of 40 artists in total.

The beloved storefronts and landmarks of the Junction will come alive with moving images and vivid colours.

Window Wonderland will also have four animated wall murals to check out by local and international artists. Two of them have never been seen before at the Junction’s annual event.

This urban art walk is described as “the first of its kind for the City of Toronto.”

In collaboration with the AR app Artivive, visitors “can simply point their smartphones at the artwork on the windows and wall murals, and voila –  watch the artist’s creation come to life,” according to the description.

While you make your way along the urban art trail, you can enjoy a free outdoor performance by CORPUS dance company called “The Alpine Merry Sheep Choir” which will run from December 3rd to December 24th from 2 PM to 4 PM.

This street performance “combines movement and theatrical imagery with surrealist humour,” according to the description.

“The Alpine Merry Sheep Choir is a family-friendly performance of funny, heart-warming sheep singing Christmas carols at multiple locations along Dundas Street West.”

Also taking place during Window Wonderland is an indoor art exhibit showcasing pieces of artwork from the 2022 muralists.

The exhibit will run from November 25th to January 6th, 2023, allowing the public to purchase their artwork.

There’s nothing else quite like it in our city, and that’s exactly why you have to see it for yourself this holiday season.
