12 new Toronto restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide

Toronto’s beloved restaurant scene keeps on getting recognized, this time thanks to Michelin Guide inspectors. More than 10 new restaurants in the city have been added to the prestigious list and here’s who made the cut.

In an exciting yet anonymous announcement, Michelin Guide inspectors have added 12 new hot spots to Michelin Guide Toronto.

“By revealing some of the new additions made by our inspectors throughout the year, we enhance our digital tools to further strengthen the ties that bind us to food lovers,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides.

“We hope that these regular revelations and updates to the selection throughout the year will provide opportunities to highlight the profession and invite everyone to discover and support the restaurants around them.”

  • Alder
  • BB’s
  • FK
  • Kappo Sato
  • Kiin
  • Mimi Chinese
  • Parquet
  • Sunnys Chinese
  • Tiflisi
  • Vela
  • White Lily Diner
  • The Wood Owl

At this time, it has not been disclosed which restaurants have received stars, Bib Gourmands, or other distinctions. Toronto’s Michelin Guide ceremony will take place on September 27th.

Toronto was selected as the first Michelin Guide destination in Canada back in May 2022. It was the sixth chosen location in North America. Vancouver was chosen as the seventh destination in July 2022.

In September of 2022, the Michelin Guide announced that 74 restaurants made the inaugural Toronto selection, including 1 Two-Star restaurant, 12 One-Star restaurants, 17 Bib Gourmand restaurants, and 44 recommended restaurants.

According to Michelin’s historical methodology, selection is based on five universal criteria: 1) quality products; 2) the mastery of flavours; 3) the mastery of cooking techniques; 4) the personality of the chef in the cuisine; 5) consistency between each visit.

As for Bib Gourmand ratings, it’s given to restaurants that serve high-quality food and good price points, and the Michelin Green Star is given to restaurants that are involved in “sustainable gastronomy.”
