These Netflix shows and movies were shot right here in Ontario

If you’ve ever wondered which Netflix shows and movies were filmed in Ontario, there’s an easy way to figure it out. There’s a website that gives you an inside look at all of the Netflix shows and movies filmed in Ontario. And lucky for you, it’s recently been updated.

Netflix in Your Neighbourhood showcases all the Canadian filming locations used in Netflix originals and provides information about each town and city where the filming occurred.

For the most part, a lot of Netflix hits are filmed in Ontario. Though we see a lot of movies with Toronto in the background, some local towns get just as much love as filming spots.

Curious to know more? Here are a few productions that were filmed in Ontario:

A Merry Little Ex-mas

This flick is about a recently divorced woman who attempts to have one last Christmas with her family before selling the house and moving. But of course, complications arise thanks to her ex-husband, who brings his amazing new girlfriend into the holiday mix.

Where was it filmed: Shot in Hillsburgh, Glen Williams, and Unionville.

Wayward

“Nothing is what it seems in Tall Pines. After an escape attempt from an academy for ‘troubled teens,’ two students join forces with a newly local police officer, unearthing the town’s dark and deeply rooted secrets,” shares Netflix.

Where was it filmed: Shot in Toronto, Dundas, Millbrook, Milton, Guelph, Ashburn, and Mississauga.

Frankenstein

Another hit by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro! Adapting Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, del Toro tells the story of a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment. Ultimately, it leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

Where was it filmed: Shot in North Bay and Toronto.

But that’s not all! There are tons of other Netflix hits filmed across the province that you probably didn’t know.

Feed that curiosity and see what else Netflix uses Ontario in as a background.
