This short Washington hike leads you to a stunning natural bridge that was once part of a lava tube

While bridges may seem like an every day boring old man made object, there are actually natural bridges across the world and even here in Washington. Our state’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest is home to one that is accessible via a short hike making it well worth the visit.

The trail to access the bridge is an easy loop trail that is just 0.8 miles long. It has barely any elevation gain so while still a hike you could even comfortably call this adventure a short walk as it takes about 15 minutes to complete.

The bridge is near the Ice Caves, a popular year round destination for curious hikers inside the National Forest. Interestingly, Natural Bridges was probably once like the ice caves as it is the remains of collapsed lava tubes.

The trail will lead you around the bridge allowing you to check it out for yourself and is a great short hike to add onto a day of exploring the forest.
