A little taste of summer? Toronto could see temperatures reach 21°C this week

The lead-up to Halloween has been relatively mild weather-wise here in Toronto, with daytime highs sitting in the mid-to-upper teens, but a brief cold snap this week will send temperatures hovering dangerously close to the freezing mark.

Monday’s high of 15°C in Toronto dropped considerably just in time for election night, with a low of just 2°C. In anticipation of the cold temperatures, Environment Canada issued a yellow advisory for frost in Toronto, warning of potential damage to plants, trees, and crops.

Temperatures will remain cool on Tuesday despite the sunny skies, with a high of 11°C and a nighttime low of 6°C. Things will start to warm up on Wednesday, when Toronto is expected to see a peak temperature of 16°C and a low of 8°C.

According to Environment Canada’s forecast, temperatures are expected to peak on Thursday, when we’ll see a low of 9°C and a pleasantly warm high of 21°C, which represents a temperature swing of 19°C compared to Monday night.

Despite the warmer temperatures, Toronto is in for a slight chance of showers throughout Thursday, with an elevated likelihood at night. Luckily, it doesn’t look like precipitation will be interfering with any of your Halloween festivities this weekend.

On Friday, we’re set to see sunny skies with a high of 16°C, and on Halloween, which falls on Saturday this year, cloudy skies will be accompanied by a high of 14°C and an overnight low of 10°C.

If you’re wondering how the rest of the fall season will play out weather-wise, the Old Farmer’s Almanac long-range weather forecast for southern Ontario offers an early glimpse at what we can expect next month.

November is expected to start off on a sunny and warm note in the region, followed by a few showers in southeastern Ontario between Nov. 7 and 11. From Nov. 12 to 17, a period of sunny and chilly conditions will take over, although this will quickly be disrupted by potential snow between Nov. 18 and 22.

The last few days of November are expected to bring rain showers and mild temperatures, followed by flurries and colder conditions.

However, the average temperature next month in southern Ontario is expected to be 4.5°C, which is 1°C above average in the east and 4°C above in the west. Overall, the region’s precipitation total is expected to reach 45 mm, which is still 25 mm below average.
