These Vancouver cafes have some of the best London Fogs in the city

Are you a tea lover? Chances are you’ve indulged in a London Fog or two, and you’ll be happy to know that Vancouver has plenty of great options as the birthplace of the popular warm beverage!

The foamy tea drink is akin to a latte, trading espresso for Earl Grey. It was created by local Vancouverite and ceramics artist Mary Loria as a result of a sudden pregnancy craving, according to Grow Tea Company.

Back in the 90s, Loria went to her favourite local cafe and ordered the first-ever London Fog. Looking for a substitute for coffee, she ordered an Early Grey tea with steamed milk, which would eventually become the popular beverage we all know and love.

Today, a typical London Fog consists of Earl Grey tea, vanilla, raw honey, and milk. Tea lovers can sip on it warm (or occasionally cool) throughout the Pacific Northwest and West Coast, with a variety of ingredient substitutions available.

In fact, you may have heard of the Paris Fog starting to pop up as an adaptation with citrus!

So now that we’ve started down this rabbit hole, it’s only right that we spotlight some of the best London fogs in the city. Let’s dive in!

Lumine Coffee

Lumine has no shortage of delicious coffee and tea latte beverages to choose from, but we think their London Fog is top-tier. Pair it with a fresh focaccia sandwich or a baked treat!

Where: 1965 West 4th Avenue, #103

Foglifter Coffee Roasters

After over 20 years in the retail coffee space at Bean Around the World, these coffee roasters decided to branch out into their own family-run business, and while their locally sourced coffee game is strong, we dare to say that their London Fog game might be even stronger.

Where: 3590 Main Street (flagship cafe)

Le Marché St. George

Le Marché is a popular destination for traditional French pastries, Croque Monsieur, and other comfort food, but its London Fog and citrusy Paris Fog deserve recognition of their own.

Where: 4393 St. George Street

The Mighty Oak

This neighbourhood cafe and grocery store is a cornerstone for many who call Cambie Village home. Stop in on your next walk in the area and have a London Fog or your fave espresso beverage.

Where: 198 West 18th Avenue

The Federal Store

A quaint luncheonette and grocer slash cafe, The Federal Store really does it all. The plant-adorned spot nestled between Quebec and Main is known for its amazing selection of house-baked pastries and cakes – and we think their London Fogs make for one of the best pairings!

Where: 2601 Quebec Street

Nero Waffles

For a decadent spin on the classic beverage, head to Nero Waffles for some sweet (or savoury) waffles and a London Fog Lavender Latte.

Where: 1703 Robson Street

Kahve Vancouver

Known for its light, airy space and tasty espresso drinks, Kahve in Kitsilano is a one-stop shop for a casual catch-up and tasty snack or meal on the go. And their London Fogs are among the most highly reviewed on Yelp.

Where: 1822 West 1st Avenue

So there you have it, tea enthusiasts. The next time you want to treat yourself to a tasty warm beverage, you know where to find some of the very best London Fogs.
