The Art in the Garden Show and Sale is turning a private Calgary garden into an open-air art market this weekend, and it’s definitely one of the more unexpected places to discover local artwork. Returning for its 17th year, the free event will give guests an opportunity to meet local artists, check out a variety of artwork, and enter to win prizes, all while spending a day surrounded by gorgeous blooms.
Let’s take a further look at what’s waiting for you inside the gardens,
The sale will take place at a private garden in southwest Calgary, which has been carefully tended to throughout the summer to create the perfect backdrop for the show. This year’s lineup will include artists Rosemany Bennet, Glora Chow, Carol Hugger, and Lynee Hawthorne, who will join as guest artists on the second day of the show.
The artwork on display will cover a range of mediums and styles, with everything from original pieces and matted prints to art cards and stained glass available for purchase. There will also be a chance to win an original painting by Rosemary Bennet as part of the event’s door prize!
The 17th Annual Art in the Garden Show and Sale is taking place this weekend on Saturday, Aug. 8 and Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The event is completely free to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring donations or food items in support of the Veterans’ Food Bank. And if you’re planning to purchase any artwork, you can pay using cash, Mastercard, or debit.
One thing to keep in mind is that there will be no food or drinks available on-site, so organizers encourage you to bring your own water bottle or beverage to enjoy at the event.
So if you’ve been on the hunt for a new piece of artwork to add to your home, this is the perfect place to find something you won’t find in a typical store, while supporting local artists.
