7 lakefront towns & villages for a perfect road trip in Ontario

There’s something about a little town on the lake that takes all the worries away. If you’re looking for adorable places to road trip to in Ontario, you may as well pick some on the lake! These are seven lakefront towns and villages to visit in Ontario.

Bayfield 

Bayfield is located in southwestern Ontario right on Lake Huron.

This village is a popular destination for beach days and even has a drive-in theatre you can bring your car to!

Soak up the sun and stay awhile.

Tobermory

Tobermory is a “harbour town” and has some of the most breathtaking views in the province!

Surrounded by crystal-clear water, be sure to check out The Grotto while you visit, located at Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Port Stanley

This community on Lake Erie has it all from fine dining, casual dining, beaches and shops!

There are some cute inns if you choose to stay awhile including The Inn On The Harbour & Little Inn, Port Stanley Beach Hotel and The Windjammer Inn.

Soak up the sun at Port Stanley Beach and have a great time.

Kingsville

Head south and you’ll hit Canada’s most southern town which also happens to be on Lake Erie, Kingsville!

This picturesque spot has Pelee Island Winery right on the water, what else could you need?

Explore the waterfront here and you can officially say you’ve been to the most southern town in the country!

Innisfil  

Innisfil is on Lake Simcoe and is a great place to road trip to from Toronto, located just an hour and 20 minutes away by car.

According to the town’s website, some of the attractions here include:

  • 258 km of trails
  • Eight golf courses
  • 47 km of Lake Simcoe shoreline
  • 399 acres of parks
  • Seven marinas

Wellington 

Wellington describes itself as “a place you’ll never want to leave,” so sounds like a good place to road trip to!

From Wellington Beach to the handful of wineries (Sandbanks Estate Winery, Karlo Estates Winery and Casa-Dea Estates Winery just to name a few) you’re sure to have a wonderful time.

Huntsville

Nestled right in the heart of Muskoka is Huntsville.

This town is beautiful and has multiple beachfronts to choose from!

If you want to treat yourself to a nice dinner on the lake, try The Mill on Main.
