Here’s the replacement plan for Granville Island’s iconic Bridges Restaurant

While time might be running out to visit Granville Island’s popular Bridges Restaurant, it’s nice to know that something new will be taking its place. Turns out, the owners, Tap & Barrel, are planning to completely transform it over the winter.

A few weeks back, the news broke that the restaurant would be shutting down by the end of September. Having first opened way back in 1980, the restaurant operated independently up until 2018, when it was sold to Tap & Barrel. And now, the company is ready to take the spot down to the studs, resulting in a completely new space to enjoy.

Which we’re excited for, as long as they keep the massive patio overlooking False Creek. Tap & Barrel already has some amazing waterfront spots around the city, so we’re confident that this might be their new shining star. Construction will begin this fall, with the hopes of reopening to the public next spring.

And while we have something to look forward to, we definitely recommend visiting this iconic spot one last time before it shuts down on September 26th. After all, we weren’t old enough to visit Trader Vic’s while it was around, and we’re not going to let another Vancouver dining mainstay slip through.

Bridges Restaurant

When: Open until September 26th, 2021
Where: 1696 Duranleau Street, Granville Island
