There’s a ‘Hobbit’-inspired house at a magical medieval village in Alberta

With its mossy rooftops and rolling hills, fans of fantasy classic The Hobbit fell in love with The Shire, and this spring, you can actually rest your head in Bilbo’s cozy hillside home.

Located an hour and a half northeast of Calgary, Good Knights, a Medieval resort and campground in Alberta, is where the dreams of lifelong fairytale fans come true, and that’s partly due to the existence of The Burrows.

An Unexpected Journey

Described as a snuggly cottage, this Hobbiton-inspired house has all the amenities to keep adventure-seekers cozy, no matter the season.

From in-floor heating, linens, cookware, a soft bed, WiFi access, games, and 600 square feet of space, visitors can kick back, relax and wind down in good company.

Where is it?

If you’d like to enjoy a weekend away, Good Knights is located just 10 kilometres south of Three Hills.

“Look for the blue highway signs for Good Knights- 1/2 km north and south of the turn off of Highway 21,” they explain. 

“Check-In is any time after 4 p.m. Check-out is 11 a.m. If you plan to arrive later than 7 p.m., please let us know.”
