With the cast of HBO’s The Last Of Us back in Alberta and six months of filming left to go, it was only a matter of time until we got another big announcement from behind the scenes and this one has us dreaming of a mega-series cross over – despite knowing it’ll never happen.

As confirmed on her Instagram, Euphoria’s Storm Reid (who fans will recognize as Gia Bennett in the aesthetic drama) will appear in season one of the upcoming video game adaption.

Joining a well-oiled crew that also features the likes of Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Reid will play young survivalist Riley Abel, who accompanies main characters Joel and Ellie across post-apocalyptic America 20 years after civilization is destroyed by a deadly virus.

In addition to Euphoria, Reid has also starred in several other popular movies and TV shows such as 12 Years’s a Slave, When They See Us and A Wrinkle In Time with Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey.

Though there’s no official premiere date set, The Last Of Us will take our screens in 2022 and is sure to amass a huge fan base upon its release.

Named one of the most expensive TV shows ever produced, Albertans can look forward to seeing even more very public sets (like this one in Edmonton last fall), celebrity sightings and road closures as they wrap things up before the big day.

Until then, keep your eyes open, folks! You never know who or what you’ll see in your city.
