Seattle’s bar scene is no stranger to ‘best of’ lists. And Esquire’s newly released “42 Best Bars in America in 2024” adds to that list! According to Esquire, Bar Bayonne in Seattle is one of the top bars in the nation!

The new list looks at bars in cities across the States, from New York to San Francisco. “It’s not just about the drinks. Then again, it’s never just about the drinks,” states the Esquire.

And that’s part of why Bar Bayonne is on this list. Located next door to the beloved bistro L’Oursin, Esquire describes it as “a little bit more Spanish than French,” with martinis made with “jambon-infused gin, dry sherry, and briny piparra peppers.”

“Start with some oysters, of course (I’m convinced the best ones in the world come from the Pacific Northwest), then snack on Spanish potato chips topped with thin slices of the slightly sweet and salty meat for which the bar is named,” reads the Bar Bayonne description. “After that, stay and drink awhile or make your way to dinner next door.”

Don’t mind if we do!

And as for other bars in the region, Portland’s The Uncanny also made the list.

“The Uncanny describes itself as ‘the love child of a speakeasy and a dive bar.’ That’s fairly accurate, but its location, in a house with windows lined in red neon, makes you think you’ve walked into a party,” it states.

If you’re looking to visit Bar Bayonne, note that they don’t take reservations. But it will be worth the wait!
