Here’s what’s on the menu at Toronto’s new Mexican brunch cafe

Mexican food and brunch — can you name a better duo? We think not. Toronto’s popular Campechano restaurant is opening its very first cafe this week, serving up classic brunch dishes infused with Mexican flair.

Campechano Cafe is located just north of Bathurst St and Dundas St West near Kensington Market.

The menu features a variety of unique-sounding dishes, including hotcakes, ranchero, pozole, tlayudita, tamal, huarache, sope, and quesadilla.

If you’re not very well-versed in Mexican cuisine, many of these dishes are savoury and made with black beans, eggs, masa, salsa, avocado, corn, and meats like chorizo and grass-fed sirloin steak.

All of the eggs on Campechano Cafe’s menu are pasteurized and supplied directly by the farmer, according to the menu.

As for cocktails, it doesn’t get more Mexican-brunch themed than a piña mimosa, and this one’s made with grilled pineapple juice.

Other boozy beverages include the mezcal sunset and cafe de olla, which is cold brew coffee infused with Spanish liqueur and sugarcane syrup.

The non-alcoholic drink selection includes coffee, agua de horchata, orange juice, and Mexican sodas.

Campechano operates two restaurants in the downtown core on College and Adelaide.

The restaurant’s first-ever cafe opens this Thursday at 9 a.m., so stay tuned to their Instagram for the latest updates.
