Okay, friends. We’ve got more sad COVID news today, so buckle up, especially if you’re a die-hard tea junkie. The Montreal-based company DavidsTea has announced that they will only be reopening 18 locations in Canada at the end of August. Well, that’s better than nothing!

Man, oh man the COVID-19 pandemic certainly hasn’t been kind to the beverage company. In a press release, DavidsTea said that they will be sending out termination leases for all chosen locations, which they expect to take effect within the next 30 days, and have renegotiated “more advantageous rent conditions” with their landlords for those that will reopen.

These 18 locations will be split between Quebec, Ontario, Alberta British Columbia, Manitoba, and New Brunswick, but they have not released in which cities they will remain open.

“Our decision to reopen these select stores is consistent with our objective to create a leaner, more efficient company, positioned for long-term growth,” said Herschel Segal, Founder, Chairman and Interim CEO of DAVIDsTEA.

May the odds be ever in your favour, Canada. On the bright side, they will continue to operate and distribute as is through their website, so if by chance you lose your local DavidsTea, their flavours will always only be shipping notification away, and for that, we can be thankful.
