Albertans are outdoors all year round, no matter the weather. But from skiing to snowboarding, hiking, and hockey, winter is a season when having the right gear is super important and it’s high time to get yourselves ready, folks! This week, not only did we see the colder winds blow in, but we also saw the arrival of Calgary’s first Decathlon superstore, a 70,000 square foot one-stop shop for all things sports-related.

With equipment for 65 different activities, affordable prices, co-working spaces, and even a freaking gymnasium, this larger-than-life location is truly one of a kind.

Located in Southcenter Mall, Decathlon is expected to open this Saturday, November 6th, and will act as Western Canada’s distribution center going forward.

“From the wide range of sports we offer at affordable and fair prices, to in-store activities, to service workshops, to second-hand and eco-designed products, we aim to be a trusted partner for people in Calgary looking for solutions to getting and staying active,” said Craig Binch, store leader for Decathlon Calgary in a press release.

Honestly, despite having over 1,600 stores in the world – we’re feeling pretty dang special that they chose us for their first major location in Western Canada so we’ll definitely be checking it out.
