Think you have to drive outside of the city to enjoy the great outdoors? Think again! Calgary’s East Village has opened their snowy Nordic Loop, a beautifully groomed 1km cross country track, so you enjoy a fresh alpine-like experience, without filling up your gas tank!
In association with Fort Calgary and the Foothills Ski Club, this lovely track offers both a beautiful view of the city and nature so keep your peepers wide while you glide!

Now, before you head off, these trails are BYOP (bring your own poles) but they do have a waxing station on-site! Also, all skill levels are encouraged! Plus, you can snowshoe on it!
Whether you’re a pro or have never put on a pair of skis before, everyone is welcome, just don’t expect any closes contact pointers from a stranger. COVID regulations are still in effect, so everyone is required to stay 2-metres apart from one another.
Trust us, though. You’re going to have a ton of fun with this – and you’ll have a lot more time to spare for the other things that matter (whatever that might be to you right now.)
Have fun, enjoy yourselves, and be safe, Calgary!
