A downtown Calgary parking lot is turning into an outdoor cinema for three nights this week, with nine Halloween movies scheduled from Oct. 22 to 24, 2026. Horizon Drive-In is hosting the screenings in the Badlands Parking Lot, with movies playing each night from early evening until after midnight.
If you’re planning to check it out, here’s what to expect, including the full movie schedule, ticket details, and how to score some free popcorn.
Horizon Drive-In is a pop-up drive-in theatre in the Badlands Parking lot in downtown Calgary. Throughout the season, the outdoor cinema shows different movies and hosts themed screenings, primarily in the summer.
This weekend, the drive-in is hosting a Halloween series, so you can watch some classics on the big screen.
The screenings run from Thursday, Oct. 22 to Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, with three movies playing each night at 7 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and 11:45 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 22, will kick off the series, starting with an animated Halloween special before moving into comedy and horror later in the evening.
Friday’s lineup includes:
Saturday is the final night of the series and features the following screenings:
Horizon Drive-In offers free movie theatre popcorn through its Popcorn for a Cause initiative. According to organizers, if you donate $5 worth of non-perishable food, you’ll receive a free bag of popcorn.
There are two ticket options to choose from, depending on how you want to watch the movies.
Outdoor viewing passes cost $10.74 each and let you watch from the front-row seating area. You’ll need to bring your own lawn chair or blanket, and the ticket doesn’t include vehicle access.
If you’d rather watch from your car, a vehicle ticket costs $16.12 for the driver and one vehicle. Additional adult passengers cost $16.12 each, while children aged 15 and under cost $10.64 each.
Each passenger needs their own ticket, and you must purchase all additional passenger tickets with a vehicle ticket.
If you’re watching from your vehicle, make sure you have a working FM radio, as the movie audio is broadcast directly to your car through a designated frequency.
Parking is first come, first served, so organizers recommend arriving 30 to 45 minutes before the movie starts. And if you get hungry, on-site concessions will be available with snacks and beverages.
So if you want to squeeze in one more outdoor movie night before the weather gets too cold, head downtown and catch a screening before the drive-in season wraps up.
