7 of the best spots in Toronto for delicious steak frites

If I’m indulging while out for dinner, it’s steak frites. Is there anything better than a juicy steak with a bed of perfectly cooked fries? No, there isn’t. Toronto has plenty of spots to find this savoury dish, and we’ve narrowed down the very best.

J’s Steak Frites

This restaurant serves one thing for dinner – I’ll give you one guess.

J’s Prix Fixe menu is $60 per person, featuring steak frites, a delicious salad and bread. Oh, did we mention the fries are unlimited?

This is one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time, and the new location on College has a stunning secret back patio to dine at this summer.

Where: 577 College St & 1198 Queen St W

Le Select Bistro

This beloved spot is a must-try when it comes to steak frites.

The 8oz striploin is priced at $49, doused in butter. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Where: 432 Wellington St W

Cote De Boeuf

A 10oz AAA dry aged striploin cooked to perfection every time – that’s what to expect when ordering steak frites at Cote De Boeuf.

This small but mightily bistro is nestled along the bustling Ossington Avenue, the perfect place to end the day after strolling the street’s many cafes, stores and restaurants.

Where: 130 Ossington Ave

Le Baratin

Le Baratin is one of the best restaurants in the city, in my opinion.

The steak frites include a AAA marinated striploin with shallot sauce, served with mixed greens and of course, frites.

Where: 1600 Dundas St W

Jules Bistro

Jules has one of the best steak frites deals in the city.

The 6oz serving is priced at $26.95 and is the perfect amount of food to not feel overly stuffed. The steak frites are always delicious and there are two locations on either side of the city to pick from.

Don’t forget to get a glass of the Bordeaux.

Where: 924 Queen St W & 1290 Queen St E

Le Swan

Unbeatable French food and amazing steak frites,

Le Swan is also along Queen West, a little restaurant that certainly packs a punch. The steak frites are my favourite but the restaurant serves up a variety of plates and drinks you’ll want to try too.

They also serve milkshakes!!

Where: 892 Queen St W

Alice

Alice is a fairly new addition to College Street and the food is incredible.

The steak frites are buttery and delicious and while you’re there be sure to try the chilli espresso martini if you like spice!

Where: 488 College St
