Sand-sational: This Canadian beach is among the best in the world

The Great North isn’t widely known for its sun or sand, but don’t count us out!

What we lack in quantity, we make up for in quality and one beach in Canada has been named among the best in the world.

From crystal clear water and stunning mountain views to quiet getaways, BeachAtlas has released a new list that includes 100 destinations and it might surprise you to know who made the cut.

“Typically, the quest for the world’s best beaches zeroes in on their visual allure — powdery sands and clear blue waters,” they explain.

“Our selection goes beyond the conventional, embracing a richer tapestry of what makes a beach remarkable.”

Taking everything from classic beauty, party and lifestyle to community, natural diversity, DEI, and cultural significance into account, they were able to narrow it down – with a Canadian spot snagging a spot at number 52.

Revered for its size, Long Beach in British Columbia is considered the ‘surf capital of Canada,’ and is a must-visit for those who love to catch a wave or want to lounge in peace.

“With a length of 10 kilometres, it is evident that Long Beach derives its name from its voracious stretch of shoreline,” they write.

“The beach attracts surf enthusiasts due to its sprawling waves and unwavering temperature, which persists throughout the year.”

As for the others that made the list?

It should come as no surprise that Bora Bora in French Polynesia was number one, followed by Boulders Beach in South Africa and Waikiki Beach in Hawaii at number 3.

Not bad company, right? Which beach in Canada do you think should have made the list? Let us know and enjoy the upcoming sunny season.

Heck, maybe take a trip to Long Beach. You won’t be disappointed.
