This Toronto rooftop is bringing Cuban nightlife and eats all summer long

Toronto meets Cuba at the Ace Hotel Toronto this summer.

Starting Tuesday, June 30, Ace Hotel Toronto is transforming its popular Evangeline rooftop bar into Havana Nights, a limited-time experience inspired by the glamour, music and energy of 1950s Cuba.

What to expect

Running until Friday, July 31, the seasonal pop-up promises to transport guests from the heart of downtown Toronto to a lively Havana-inspired escape high above the city.

It opens to the public at 8 p.m., welcoming all to soak up the warm summer nights while sipping on delicious cocktails, dancing to Latin beats, and embracing Cuban culture.

Inside, guests will find themselves surrounded by decoration inspired by the golden age of Cuban nightlife. Think Art Deco-inspired jungle wallpaper, vintage liquor posters, table lamps, and woven rattan furniture.

Now outside, the rooftop patio will be transformed with lush greenery, twinkling string lights, retro-inspired pillows and mint green chairs. And of course, what’s a night in Cuba without a game of dominoes?

What else is going on?

Throughout the summer, Havana Nights will host a lineup of weekly programming aimed at keeping the rooftop buzzing. Every Thursday night, guests can enjoy QUE RICO, a free event beginning at 8 p.m., featuring DJ ADUBZ. Sundays will see live music evenings, too!

As for sips and eats, expect a Bumbu rum-inspired cocktail menu served in vintage glassware and curated by bar manager Aaron Hatchell.

Think timeless cocktails like Mojito highballs, tropical fruit flavours, Champagne by the glass, and more. Havana Nights will also offer snacks and small plates such as fresh ceviches served with plantain chips, mini Cubano sandwiches and Croquetas de Jamón.

Reservations for Havana Nights will open on Monday, June 8, via OpenTable.

The only taste of Cuba we’ll be enjoying this summer is at Evangeline.
