A new list of the top 5 ski resorts in Canada has some surprising picks

Ah, readers’ choice awards, where would we be without you? A new ranking of the top 5 ski resorts in Canada has come out from Condé Nast Traveler, and it features some surprising picks. Sure, BC and Alberta occupied the top spots, but a couple of eastern destinations also made the list. Let’s check it out!

1. Lake Louise, AB (80.6)

Located in the heart of Banff National Park, Lake Louise is the largest ski resort in the Rocky Mountains. A top pick amongst locals and travellers alike, it’s known for a variety of terrain ranging from easy groomers to technical chutes.

2. Big White, BC (80.3)

Coming in right behind Lake Louise is this BC resort. Just a stone’s throw away from Kelowna and offering stunning views of the Okanagan, Big White is a destination in itself for avid skiers.

3. Whistler Blackcomb, BC (79.6)

The third spot is also the most well-known resort in Canada, and maybe even North America. Thanks to its absolutely massive size (over 8,000 acres between the two mountains), this is one of those spots where a weekend is nice, but you’ll want to stay a month.

4. Mont Tremblant, QC (73.44)

Here’s where we get into the more, uh, interesting picks. Located in the Laurentian Mountains, this resort only features an elevation of 875m, but makes up for lack of height with fantastic glade skiing and local amenities.

5. Le Massif de Charlevoix, QC (73.02)

And, we’ve got another Quebec destination rounding out this list! Le Massif directly overlooks the St. Lawrence river and has a dedicated train service to it, but literally has around 5% of the skiable terrain as Whistler Blackcomb. We hope each and every acre is stunning!

Do we agree with this roundup of the top ski resorts in Canada? Not really. But hey, stay tuned for our own lists to suit every need!
