Here’s what’s open and closed in Toronto this August long weekend

Believe it or not, summer is nearing its end. July has come and gone in what feels like a blink of an eye. It feels almost bittersweet considering we only have a few more weeks left of sunshine and warm weather. But we won’t let that dampen our upcoming plans. We’re ready for you, August, and to make the last full month of summer even better, we’re up for a long weekend. Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, is a Civic Holiday, which means some businesses across Toronto will be closed.

By the looks of it, only a few places will be closed for the day, and others will have early closures, varying depending on locations. However, there are still a ton of fun things to do in the city on Monday if you’re in search of an adventure.

Here’s what’s open and closed in Toronto this Civic Holiday:

Closed

  • Toronto Public Library branches (Aug. 2 and 3, 2026)
  • Mail delivery services
  • Government services
  • Banks

Open
