Vending machines are one of those things that you just kind of expect to be everywhere. Well, except for the great outdoors. But times are changing and you might just be seeing a new kind of vending machine next time you go camping. A Firewood vending machine.

Yes, you read that right, a firewood vending machine. And honestly, it makes a lot of sense the more we think about it. After all, walking around gathering sticks and tinder is annoying. And hauling a heavy load of firewood isn’t fun either. So now we have the next best thing, a firewood vending machine!

So thanks to Russ Harvey of Dancing Tree Farms and Services, Orcas Island now has its very own firewood vending machine. And we think it’s a great idea especially considering its ability to be a no-contact service. So we’re really hoping this turns out to be a success. Because we’d love to see one of these next time we go camping.

So if you’d like to learn more about the vending machine you can click here. And if you want to check it out in person, you can head over to Moran State Park on Orcas Island. A bundle of wood will cost you $7 which is pretty dang good. And if you have a great idea for an invention, this is your sign to act on it.
