The Black and Tan Collection
The MOHAI’s newest exhibition celebrates the Black and Tan Club which existed on 12th and Jackson until 1966. The club “hosted legendary musical acts and local bands for patrons of all races as one of the first interracial establishments in Seattle. To honor the influential history of Seattle’s early Black jazz scene, artist Bonnie Hopper created oil paintings of the renowned musicians who played at the nightclub.”

The War on Drugs
Looking to start the week on a rocking note? Why not see early 2000s band The War on Drugs, it’s probably been a while since you’ve listened to their music and they have a new album from 2021. So give them a chance.

The Mystery of Irma Vep
Want to watch a movie? Try switching things up with some live theatre instead. Intiman Theatre is putting on The Mystery of Irma Vep, a Penny Dreadful-style sci-fi frolic with plenty of camp comedy. Don’t miss out folks!

HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever
During this exhibit, guests will be able to explore the “Hockey Science Lab,” where you can test your hockey knowledge through hands-on interactive activities on a scaled-down replica rink and test things like reaction time, speed, balance, coordination, and power all of which are crucial to the game of hockey. Additionally, you can explore a hockey locker room full of the game’s biggest stars.

We know that most of you are probably very ready for winter to be over. The good news is that winter ends in just a bit over a month. Field Guides: A Walking Meditation
Seattle’s Freeway Park has a brand new way to interact with it. Artists Hannah Simmons and Leah Crosby have created place-based audio installations that “offer a full sensory experience that guides the listener through a series of prompts and asks them to reconsider the limitations of body, place, and memory.”

Sip on brews from Seattle’s newest breweries
If you’re all about local breweries then you’ll be delighted to know that Seattle actually has two relatively new breweries. Ladd & Lass Brewing and Wheelie Pop Brewing are newcomers who are not be ignored. Looks like you have two new places to grab drinks this week.
Lauren Halsey: 2021 Knight
Lauren Halsey’s show is the Seattle Art Museums’ next upcoming exhibition. Her work “spans sculpture, installation, and architecture, including site-specific projects, particularly in the South Central neighborhood of Los Angeles.” Further, “her work maintains a sense of civic urgency and free-flowing imagination, reflecting the lives of the people and places around her and addressing the crucial issues confronting people of color, queer populations, and the working class.”

Recent Acquisitions: Jeffry Mitchell
The Frye is showcasing work from local “gay folk artist” Jeffry Mitchell. This show highlights his work with lotus bulbs and is sure to be one of the better shows that you see this year. Think bright bright, happy and fun pieces.
