Well, it’s back to reality for us here in Toronto. The long weekend has come and gone, but the fun is far from over. In fact, some of the most exciting events of the month have yet to begin. This week marks the start of TIFF and there are so many A-listers you’ll want to be on the lookout for, not to mention all the fantastic films to see. There’s beer to drink, burgers to taste, and a World Cup qualifying match to attend, so don’t sleep on this sunny September work week we have ahead of us.
Here are 10 of the best things to do this week in Toronto that’ll get you right out of that post-long weekend funk.
TIFF 2021
The stars are coming to town for the annual Toronto International Film Festival this month! This year’s festival will be a combination of online and in-person screenings at indoor, outdoor, and drive-in theatres around the city, and all of you film buffs will be spoiled for choice. Plus, stay tuned for details about a surprise screening of a secret never-before-seen film directed by Steven Soderbergh.

LULULEMON RUN CLUB
If you’ve been missing your running group to help you stay motivated, we’re here to tell you that you’re finally getting your jogging buddies back. Meet up with other runners every Tuesday evening at the Scotiabank Pond for an hour-long run through Downsview Park, organized by Lululemon Yorkdale. If you’re nowhere close to a marathon runner, don’t sweat it — this event has options that are just right for your level. It’s free to attend, but you’ll need to register in advance.

LIVE MUSIC THURSDAYS AT RENDEZVIEWS 2.0
Kick back and enjoy some live acoustics at Toronto’s most colourful patio. It’s located in what was once a downtown parking lot and it features killer views of the city. Oh, and some awesome drinks and eats. The patio also hosts all kinds of other events, from trivia to watercolour workshops to viewing parties.

SUNSETS, SUNFLOWERS & SOUNDS
Head over to this giant sunflower field in Mississauga for a FREE live music show. Bring your own chair and pop a squat in front of the stage for performances by some of the city’s best local talent, with snacks and beverages available at food trucks on site. Online reservations are sold out but the event is still accepting walk-ins, so definitely show up early for your chance to see the show.

ARTWALK DRIVE-IN
With movies every Thursday through Sunday, four giant murals to check out, and a series of food events and concerts, Vaughan’s ArtWalk Drive-In is something you definitely won’t want to miss. This Thursday, September 9th, you can see the 1996 film Twister, and be sure to arrive early for a drop-in spot!

BEER TASTING NIGHT
Head over to Black Lab Brewing for a beer tasting and social put on by the UCPBA. Your $30 ticket comes with a flight or two pints of beer, snacks, a short tour of the brewery, and a presentation from a senior brewmaster. Sip your beverages in the outdoor beer garden or at the event’s dedicated indoor space.

CANADA VS. EL SALVADOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

LE BURGER WEEK TORONTO
Canada’s biggest burger event of all time, Le Burger Week is back and they’ve released a list of all the restaurants participating in the event so far. From local bars to cafes, Toronto is in for a very special TWO weeks of some wildly tasty creations in celebration of the festival’s 10th anniversary and we are in for a real treat.

TEQUILA & TURNTABLE TUESDAY
Going up on a Tuesday? Count us in! Boogie with a cocktail in hand as a live DJ spins the night away at this FREE event. We hope you love tequila because that’s what this event is all about. If you’re hungry, you can order the Snack Attack for $35, which comes with a variety of tasty bites and gelato of your choosing.
