If you’re in your 30s and thinking of making a big change, keep reading. Travel + Leisure magazine just released a ranking of the best places to live in the world while in your 30s, and among the list of nine global destinations in none other than Vancouver.
The magazine took into account that the life of an average 30-year-old has changed dramatically over the past couple of decades, and people are facing a cost of living crisis, among other challenges. So to come up with the ideal list of cities, the magazine looked at a city’s cost of living, access to affordable and quality education and child care, high salaries, job availability, parental leave, recreational opportunities, and good work-life balance.
Recognized for its great health care and education and world-class entertainment and arts scene, Vancouver came in at number 6 on the list. Other standout factors that potentially attract those in their 30s include Canada’s generous parental leave, Vancouver’s low unemployment rate, and of course – the “postcard-worthy views.”
“Vancouver is home to a growing tech sector, including both startups and established employers like Microsoft, E.A., and Amazon,” says Jonathan Cooper, president of Macdonald Real Estate Group in conversation with T+L. “Neighborhoods that combine access to amenities with condominium or townhome offerings include Mount Pleasant, Fraser Street, and Yaletown.”
