Welcome to Sunday, Edmonton! Honestly, this is maybe the most ‘springy’ week we’ve seen so far this year. Honestly, the forecast is looking more like a rollercoaster ride than anything else. The good news? You’ll want to take advantage of all Edmonton has to offer both around town and at home. And, we’re here to make sure you know what’s out there!

Here are 10 things to do this week in Edmonton.

CHECK OUT NEW DIGITAL INSTALLATIONS

A trio of new digital art installations is coming to downtown Edmonton. Located at the Winspear Centre, the Citadel Theatre, and the Art Gallery of Alberta, these installations will showcase what the institutions can’t wait to bring back to Edmonton.

STREAM A MOVIE

While we’d classify the majority of them as ‘films’ (lifts pinky) instead of movies, the Metro Cinema has some great options that give you more to talk about than ‘Green guy go smash’. But hey, who are we to judge the psychological transformation of Dr. Banner?

When: Streaming throughout the week
Where: Online
Cost: Varies

WATCH SOME HOCKEY

We don’t know about you, but the recently postponed Oilers games has us chomping at the bit to see McDavid and the rest of the gang hop on the ice again. They’ve got a couple of games lined up against the Canadiens this week, so it should be some great hockey.

When: Games throughout the week

ENJOY DOWNTOWN DINING WEEK

Edmonton’s wonderful downtown dining week has returned! Pick from dozens of amazing restaurants offering delicious set menus, ranging from a quick and light brunch to a multi-course dinner. And, the vast majority of these are available for takeout.

HEAD TO A PATIO

We do have some great days of weather ahead of us, and there are few better ways to enjoy it than heading to a nice local patio. If you’re looking for a few options, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite ones to visit this spring. From new openings to hidden gems, there are some great spots to check out!

GO FOR AN OUTDOOR WORKOUT

Got some excess energy to burn? Skip pushups in your kitchen and go explore some of Edmonton’s best places for an outdoor workout. From yoga in the park to running trails and more, we’ve got you covered from all angles. And, those brisk temperatures might even be invigorating, who knows!

HIT THE LINKS

What we like about golf is that it straddles the line between a hobby and a sport. Feeling competitive? Walk the course and try to hit a new low score. Really just looking to kick back for a few hours outside? That’s practically what golf carts were created for.

When: Public courses now open!
Where: Locations around Edmonton
Cost: Varies

GO BIRD WATCHING

Welcome to the easiest bird-watching expedition you’ll go on all year. Three massive, glowing, inflatable chickadees have landed on the roof of the CO*LAB Building, and they’re just waiting for you to see them. Our advice? Try and get there for dusk, and mix in the sunset with the trip.

When: On until April 30th
Where: 9641 102A Ave

HEAD TO THE ZOO

For a more diverse animal experience (and a live one to boot), you can always head to the Edmonton Zoo! While the indoor exhibits are closed for the foreseeable future, you’ll still be able to enjoy all the outdoor ones. Watching red pandas zoom around? Yes, please!

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 13315 Buena Vista Road
Cost: $10.95 (reduced price)

ROYAL ALBERTA MUSEUM FROM HOME

While it waits to reopen, the Royal Alberta Museum offers a wide variety of educational options that you can access online. Explore the collections on virtual tours, learn to build a banjo (awesome), or take some custom-made quizzes to learn more about the museum.

When: On throughout April
Where: Online
Cost: Free

That’s our roundup for you this week, Edmonton! We hope that you enjoy yourselves, whatever you decide to do.
