Masks, no masks, the verdict on what to wear and where to wear it keeps changing. Now as Washington and the nation as a whole are experiencing an uptick in COVID-19 cases it looks like masks are here to stay. In fact, masks will now be required at large outdoor events regardless of vaccination status in King County.

The new mandate goes into effect on September 7th and will apply to events of 500 people or more where social distancing isn’t possible. Folks aged 5 and older will be required to wear masks at all times unless actively eating or drinking. And if you’re wondering, this new rule will be reinforced by large outdoor venues.

We know that these changes in rules can be frustrating for some but it’s important to remember that these mandates are ultimately about protecting the community. Plus they really won’t affect you unless you’re at a sporting game, concert, fair, or another large outdoor event. So let’s all do our part in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
