If you’ve been paying attention to Toronto’s food scene the past few months, chances are you’ve had a run-in or two with The Heartbreak Chef. This delicious joint has been in the city coming up on a year and they’ve been making major waves their whole stay. To celebrate the anniversary, the spot is hosting an incredible day of giving back to a local charity.

So in case you still haven’t tried the spot, let us give you a little background. The Heartbreak Chef is a restaurant just steps from Trinity Bellwoods, specializing in comfort food. Their menu has tons of delicious creations including fried chicken sandwiches, Mac n’ cheese grilled cheese, chicken and waffles, and more. Mmmmm.

As for their day of giving back? That’ll take place a little later this month. On Saturday, March 20th they’ll be selling $5 Big Ass and Dutty Chicken sandwiches from noon until they sell out. These menu picks are usually $12, so that’s a pretty good deal. They’re also bringing back the Fried Chicken Donut Sandwich in collaboration with Glory Hole Donuts. All proceeds from the day will be donated directly to the Parkdale Community Food Bank.

So let us get this straight. You get incredible eats at less that half price AND you’re supporting an amazing local charity. What more could you ask for??

So mark your calendars, people. Because you’re definitely going to want to take part in this fabulous celebration.
