19 Canadian restaurants were named among world’s best

Canadian restaurants have once again gained recognition for being some of the best in the world. The prestigious French-based guide, La Liste, has unveiled its top 1000 restaurants in 2024, highlighting dining destinations from across the globe. And this year, 19 Canadian restaurants were mentioned.

According to the culinary review aggregator, La Liste, 19 out of the 1,000 restaurants listed can be found in Canada.

The French-based program was created by an international team of experts and food journalists headed by French entrepreneur, Philippe Faure, according to the organization. La Liste compiles and ranks each restaurant based on a number of factors which include reviews on guidebooks, chef opinions, and online reviews.

Thousands of chefs are consulted to give their opinions about local guidebooks which are then ranked based on a “Trustworthiness index”. Online customer reviews are given a 10% weighting in the final “La Liste score”.

According to the list, the majority of the recognized Canadian restaurants can be found in Toronto. Recognized restaurants include Alo, Edulis, and Canoe Restaurant and Bar which were also in last years list.
