A Canadian pizzeria scored big at this international pizza competition, taking home a first-place win for the world’s best cheese slice. And lucky for those in Ontario, if you wanted to try a slice, all you have to do is head to Hamilton’s Cowabunga to get your hands on one.
The restaurant won its award while participating in the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas back in March.
They were the only Canadian restaurant amongst the rest of the competition winners to take home a first-place prize.
Cowabunga shared their massive accomplishment on Instagram last week.
“So many buzzer beater moments on our road to winning this competition,” shared the restaurant.

“We almost missed our flight, our luggage with our ingredients got stuck in Toronto and we had to improvise last minute in Vegas with the backup dough we flew with us on our carry-on and favours from our suppliers and friends who were on-site at the expo. We were almost late to the actual competition and were so close to getting disqualified.”
Thankfully they didn’t get disqualified and managed to come out on top despite it all.
“Andy and Justin have dreamt of a moment like this ever since they met, we’re so proud to bring this Hamilton!!”” read the post.
“There were so many amazing pizza makers out there and it was an honour alone to be able to compete alongside pizzerias we’ve always looked up to.”
Now if you want to try this award-winning pizza, it looks like a trip to Hamilton is in order.
Congratulations to the winners!
