Welcome back to the Vancouver Group Chat, a weekly roundup of some of the city’s most exciting updates. If they haven’t hit your algorithm or group chats yet, now is your chance to be the first to hit “send.”
This week, we’ve got a Dolly-Palooza to look forward to, a new craft brewery opening in East Vancouver this fall, and so much more. Here’s what to send your Vancouver Group Chat this week (Oct. 13).
East Vancouver’s famed brewery district is gaining another local gem-to-be. Discovery Brewing Company is set to open at 310 Victoria Dr. this fall, offering up craft brews and shareable tapas.
Before its doors even open, you can get a taste of a couple of their beers around town. Named for early brewing activity in the Munich region, the 815 (a Helles Lager) is now available at The Magnet, The Gull Liquor Store, and High Point. The Lovelace West Coast Pilsner is also available at the two latter liquor stores. So if you want to get a head start on your next brewery crawl, there might be a can or two with your name on it.
The downright turbulent winds late last week certainly did a number on the trees, and a Reddit post is going viral for showing how bare the branches were in their wake.
The same tree is pictured twice, only two days apart.
“The wind today blew most of the leaves off this tree near my place,” the post reads.
People in the comments were quick to react to the dramatic transformation.
“Looks like my hairline,” says one top comment. “Well, that escalated quickly,” reads another.
This one’s huge for EDM lovers. Calvin Harris is officially going on a career-first tour across North America next year, and Vancouver is confirmed to be one of his Canadian stops.
The concert will be at Rogers Arena on May 16, a Sunday, but with all the high energy and excitement of a Saturday.
GA tickets go on sale at noon on Thursday, Oct. 22, so set all of the reminders and timers you need, because they’ll surely go like hotcakes.
If you regularly order groceries or takeout, here’s something you might want to know!
Skip and Instacart have teamed up, making it a little easier to get your shopping done without jumping between apps.
You can now shop for groceries, beauty products and everyday essentials through Skip, while Instacart users can order from over 50,000 restaurants across Canada.
And if you’re a Skip+ or Instacart+ member, there are some added savings on delivery fees, too.
