Nothing beats a waterfront town in the fall season. Along the shores of Georgian Bay is where you’ll find this “world-renowned” jewel. Here’s what to know about the lovely Ontario town of Parry Sound.
About two hours north of Toronto is where you’ll find Parry Sound. In 2004, UNESCO designated the area as a World Biosphere Reserve, the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, per the town.
This town is a hidden gem located on the shores of the world’s largest freshwater archipelago, also known as the 30,000 islands, according to its website.
Per the town, it is rich in arts, culture and heritage.
Explore the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts and Bobby Orr Hall of Fame while you’re in town.
“Discover one of the many beautiful scenic lookouts, take a scenic air or boat tour or check out one of Parry Sound’s museum or cultural attractions,” shares Parry Sound Tourism.
Head out for a hike! The 6 km Rotary and the Algonquin Regiment Fitness Trail can be found along the waterfront, linking to the North Shore Rugged Trail.
Besides the towns wonderful location, it’s actually home to three provincial parks – Killbear Provincial Park, Oastler Lake Provincial Park and Massasauga Provincial Park.
“Fall in Parry Sound means sweater weather- crisp days with evenings punctuated by beautiful sunsets,” shares the tourism site. Isn’t that lovely?
There’s also the incredible Tower Hill Lookout, an observation tower that stands tall at 30 metres high, overlooking Georgian Bay and the surrounding landscape.
Lots to do and so much to see! Parry Sound is a true gem in the heart of Ontario.
