These are the best lookout points to capture Ontario’s vibrant fall colours

Fall is just a few days away and we’re getting ahead of the game! We’ve planned our fall day trips and now we’re onto hiking adventures. And though they’re always a wonderful experience in Ontario, nothing beats a fall hike to a lookout. We’ve compiled a list of the best fall lookout points in Ontario and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed.
Whether you’d rather stay in the GTA or feel inspired to venture out and see something new, these incredible fall lookouts in Ontario are sure to inspire your next outdoor adventure.

Dorset Scenic Tower
This former forest fire lookout tower is now a tourist attraction that offers 360-degree views of the Haliburton Highlands and Lake of Bays from 465 feet high.
You’ll have to hike your way to the tower and climb your way up, but the fall views from the top are well worth it.

Eagle’s Nest Lookout
Fall views await at Eagle’s Nest Lookout! Its trail network begins at Calabogie Peaks Resort, with a slow incline to cliff-top views of the treetops below.
You can also take the 9 km Manitou Mountain trail that hike passes three other mountain vistas before arriving at the majestic Eagle’s Nest Lookout.

Rock Dunder Nature Reserve
Rock Dunder Nature Reserve is a popular destination for those in southeastern Ontario thanks to its stunning views and in the fall season, it’s even better!
The lookout point will leave you in awe of the stunning panoramic views as you rest after the long trek.
Where: 72 Stanley Lash Ln, Morton ON
Spy Rock Lookout
You’ll find this gem within Foley Mountain Conservation Area in the Rideau Valley. It offers a show-stopping view during the fall season.
It’s also within the Frontenac Arch, which is one of four UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve sites in the whole province.

Ouimet Canyon
Described as “one of Ontario’s most dramatic vistas” by Ontario Parks, you will be in for some truly spectacular sights at Ouimet Canyon.
You can follow the trail and boardwalk connecting two observation platforms for the best views of the deep sheer cliff face that extends over 2,000 metres long.
Add some fall colours into the mix and you’re in for a seriously jaw-dropping experience.

Parry Sound’s Tower Hill Lookout
Also a former fire lookout tower, this destination offers some of the best views in the area.
Climb the 130 steps and soak up all the views, then head down to the historic garden and the museum for a gorgeous and educational stroll.

Rattlesnake Point
To get to Rattlesnake Point, you’ll need to embark on a trail that offers panoramic views from the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment which are especially beautiful in the fall season.
The conservation area is also full of stunning sheer cliffs, cave systems, and rock crevices.

Skinners Bluff Scenic Lookout
According to Ontario Parks, the massive rock jutting out of the landscape at this unique lookout point in Grey County resembles Pride Rock from The Lion King.
“The best views are from the east and north sides of the escarpment overlooking the forest below and the shining waters and islands dotting Colpoy’s Bay, a scenic inlet of Georgian Bay,” says Ontario Parks.

Temagami Tower
According to Destination Ontario, Temagami Tower is “one of the best spots to view the surrounding landscape’s vast forests, dotted with crystal-blue lakes.”
And in the fall season, it’s even better!
