When it comes to the culinary scene in Canada, we’re pretty recognized for it – and on an international scale. So much so that new restaurants keep popping up and many brands want to dip their toes north of the border.
That being said, a recognized restaurant brand has just been named the best in the world and it just so happens to be opening in Canada at some point soon.
The annual World Culinary Awards are out and it’s shared this year’s winners. Categories included Best Restaurant, Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant, Best New Restaurant, and so on and so forth.
In the World’s Best Restaurant Brand category none other than global restaurant and hotel chain Nobu came in first place.

The international restaurant brand has locations across the world, including one currently in construction in Toronto. And it’s been in development for a while.
Back in August, its website shared a tentative date of July 2023 – November 2023, however, it has since removed the update.
Though we can’t check out the Canadian location of Nobu just yet, (to see if it really is the best), two awards were given to fully operating Canadian restaurants. An award in the overall category of “Canada’s Best Restaurant” was given to Quebec’s Toqué, and “Canada’s Best Hotel Restaurant” was given to Sidecut Modern Steak & Bar at the Four Seasons in Whistler.
Since there’s no actual date or timeline for the opening of Nobu’s Toronto location, we’ll just have to take the World Culinary Awards’ word for it.
